Who is moderator for third presidential debate
Guthrie was blasted on right-wing media after the event, with Sean Hannity of Fox News saying she was nasty to Trump. Whether Welker will have a similar experience with both men on stage remains to be seen.
She was one of four moderators for a Democratic primary debate in fall , but this will be her first time moderating a general-election debate. Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and USA Today Washington bureau chief Susan Page , who moderated the first presidential debate and the vice presidential debate, respectively, struggled to assert control at times, so the pressure will be on Welker to help maintain order.

Kristen Welker is moderating the final presidential debate. In a statement, the Trump campaign complained the choice of moderators meant Biden would have a "teammate" on stage "most of the time," without being more specific about names. Some can be identified as clear opponents of President Trump, meaning Joe Biden will actually have a teammate on stage most of the time to help him excuse the radical, leftist agenda he is carrying. That is, if Biden actually shows up," Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said.
The Trump campaign several weeks ago released a list of over 20 names it said it would like to see chosen as debate moderators, but none was selected. Trump said in mid-August on "Fox and Friends" that he didn't feel the need to do much debate prep. My job is telling me, I mean that's the best debate prep.
I've sort of been preparing all my life that's what I do but I guess I'll do some preparation but I didn't do much last time because I understand what's happening. I mean, law and order we need law and order. You don't have to prep for that," he said, although ABC News has confirmed that the president has started debate prep.
I know he'd like not to do the debates. I think he probably has to. I don't know how you get out of the debates. I think you probably have to," he said in an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham. Chris Wallace: "First of all, I'm jealous. I would've liked to have been able to moderate that debate and get a real exchange of views instead of hundreds of interruptions.
It was not just Welker's colleagues who were positive about her performance. American author Brigitte Gabriel said she did a better job than Wallace , and one person went so far as to suggest she deserved a medal for her performance. Get this woman a goddam medal. Kristen Welker was amazing at this PresidentialDebate Easily the best of all of the Debates pic. And despite calling Welker " terrible and unfair " ahead of time, Trump took time during the debate to praise the moderator's performance.
