Who is ratchet and clank

The two have since shared many adventures, often working alongside Captain Qwark , as they have saved galaxies from many galactic criminals and other supervillains, the most notable of which being Dr.

During his time, Ratchet has worked for Megacorp as a trained commando, the Galactic Rangers as a sergeant, the Q-Force as a leading member, and the Polaris Defense Force. Ratchet is a street-wise, headstrong, thrillseeking hero who shows immense bravery and enjoys a challenge.

He has a light-hearted personality, often chiming in with wisecracks and lightening the mood with jokes. Though he has struggled balancing his own needs and those of the people, he ultimately comes down on the side of keeping the people of the universe safe, and is fiercely protective of his close friends and his homeworld of Veldin.

Ratchet uses his skills as a mechanic, a pilot, and a combatant to protect the universe from threats. Zurkon , and the Buzz Blades and the lombaxes such as the Alpha Disruptor.

Ratchet was born on the lombax planet of Fastoon in the Polaris Galaxy and was sent to the Solana Galaxy by his father Kaden before he died to flee from cragmite Emperor Tachyon 's attacks on the lombaxes. Ratchet then lived his life on Veldin, securing a garage as his home, completely unaware of his father's sacrifice.

Ratchet worked on Veldin as a mechanic. He looked up to the Solana Galaxy's greatest heroes, such as Ace Hardlight prior to disappearance , [1] and was a keen fan of celebrity superhero Captain Qwark. The robot contained an infobot detailing a message from blarg Chairman Drek to the citizens of planet Novalis , informing them that Novalis would be destroyed to help him construct his new planet. As the robot came equipped with the latest in robotic ignition systems, [4] Ratchet could now start his ship.

He resolved to search the galaxy with this robot, to find and ally with Captain Qwark to defeat Chairman Drek. While en route to Novalis, when Ratchet asked the robot for his name, the robot provided his serial number: B However, after the ship slightly jerked as Ratchet was pressing buttons, the robot hit the side of the ship and made a clanking sound, prompting Ratchet to name him Clank instead. Upon meeting him, he told them, to their surprise, that he was already aware of their heroic deeds across other planets and promised to train them at his challenge course on planet Umbris.

After defeating it, Ratchet was furious at Clank and became fixated on vengeance against Qwark, apparently unconcerned with Drek's plan. Clank said that this was unlike Ratchet, believing Ratchet cared about doing the right thing, something Ratchet vehemently denied saying he was "done with this stupid hero stuff". However, as Ratchet still required a robotic ignition system to fly a starship, Clank offered him an ultimatum that he would only start Ratchet's ships if he agreed to save planets that were under attack by Drek, starting with helping the Commando on planet Batalia.

Ratchet reluctantly accepted the terms, [9] and though he would often fight with Clank, [10] he did at times let slip that he still cared about the innocent lives at stake. The two later confronted Qwark and shot down his spaceship at the Gemlik Base in the orbit of planet Oltanis. After celebrating in Qwark's defeat, an infobot showed the extent of the damage the blarg were doing to Gorda City on Oltanis' surface.

This prompted a change of heart in Ratchet, as he made amends with Clank and was now determined to stop Drek. While exploring Quartu , Ratchet learned that Drek was going to use a weapon called the Deplanetizer to destroy planet Veldin. This enraged Ratchet, as he promised to fiercely defend his home from Drek. Drek's defeat led to Clank's arm being heavily damaged, though Ratchet told him he would be fine and returned to the garage, seemingly leaving Clank.

Just as Clank walked the other way, Ratchet called out to him asking where he was going, promising to fix Clank's arm. In Qwark's retelling of events and the holo-film based on them, Ratchet's story is slightly different. When Ratchet arrived on Veldin as an infant, a fongoid named Grimroth Razz had found him and took him under his wing. Ratchet grew up in Grim's garage working for him, a reckless mechanic who installed unnecessary modifications on ships after clients only requested a repair.

He dreamed of greater things and idolized the Galactic Rangers. When Captain Qwark and the Rangers hosted tryouts on the planet looking for a new recruit in the wake of Chairman Drek's destruction of planets, Ratchet convinced Grimroth Razz to allow him to participate in the tryouts, only to be rejected by Qwark, due to his reckless past and his inexperience.

Returning home solemn, Ratchet then spotted a ship crash-land from the sky and investigated it to recover the robot inside, whom he nicknamed Clank. Ratchet, eager to help, falsely claimed to be a friend of the Rangers, and the two set off to Kerwan. After crash-landing on Novalis, where the Plumber repaired their ship, [15] Ratchet and Clank arrived on Kerwan, where they made use of the Mag Booster installed on the ship to propel warbots into a Class G Dreadship , thereby putting an end to the invasion.

Ratchet landed on the planet and received a huge applause from the crowd of citizens. After being put on the spot by interviewer Dallas Wanamaker , Qwark made Ratchet a Ranger, giving him a training course and granting him a protosuit , along with a new starship. Ratchet took on many missions for the Galactic Rangers, including investigating the Blarg Tactical Research Station and planet Gaspar for new equipment, as well as rescuing Skidd McMarx on Aridia, competing in Rilgar's hoverboard races, as well as fighting the blarg on Batalia.

Throughout this, Qwark only grew jealous of Ratchet's popularity, while Cora Veralux and Brax Lectrus were visibly annoyed by him, which Ratchet was blissfully unaware of. At the beginning of the battle, Qwark puzzled the Rangers by claiming he would "reason with Drek" and deactivated his communicators, going alone. Ratchet, fearing Qwark's safety, flew to the Deplanetizer himself, sacrificing his starfighter in the process. He infiltrated the station alone to disable it, but Drek caught him and trapped him using a Mag-Net Launcher and took him to a shuttle home so that he could witness his failure first hand.

On the way to a shuttle, Ratchet saw Qwark relaxing with other blarg in the Deplanetizer, realizing that Qwark had betrayed the Rangers due to his jealousy of Ratchet. Ratchet then returned to Veldin, solemn after his defeat and returning to his old life.

Clank returned to Veldin later, attempting to convince Ratchet to rejoin the Rangers. With a push from Grimroth Razz, proud of how far Ratchet had come, Ratchet then rejoined the Rangers as their leader, to which they welcomed his return. The Rangers then deduced that Dr. Nefarious , Drek's mad scientist, was simply using Drek to humiliate the Rangers by seeing them fail, and that the Deplanetizer's next target, Umbris, would destroy not only Umbris but several planets with it.

Ratchet confronted Qwark, and after a battle with him, convinced him of the error of his ways, causing him to help them fight Nefarious. The three managed to defeat Nefarious, causing him to crash-land on Umbris, and fled the Deplanetizer shortly before it was destroyed, while the Rangers caused the Deplanetizer to destroy New Quartu with Drek still on it.

Afterwards, Ratchet returned home to Veldin, before being visited by Clank once again, who would become his lifelong companion. Ratchet and Clank later returned to Kerwan to see the rangers, meeting Qwark while he was doing community service with Shiv Helix , Shiv promptly stole Ratchet's ship, and so Ratchet, Clank and Qwark gave chase.

At the beginning of Going Commando , celebrated as galactic heroes, Ratchet and Clank both appeared in an interview for Behind the Hero , in which they described their life following Drek's defeat.

Ratchet claimed he was busy in a "domestic sense", but still longing for adventure and for someone to be in need of a hero. Ratchet was tasked with traveling to the Bogon Galaxy to track down the Unknown Thief , who had stolen a biological experiment. Two weeks after Ratchet agreed to the mission, he was dressed in a commando suit and began by tracking the Thief to a flying lab on planet Aranos , while Clank was given a job as Megacorp's head accountant, as well as an apartment in the city of Megapolis on planet Endako.

Once the two were reunited, they resolved to retrieve the experiment together. They eventually chased the Thief down on Siberius and returned the experiment to Fizzwidget, who left both of them stranded on planet Tabora.

The Thief caught up with them, demanding they hand over the experiment, though clumsily falling out of the disguise and revealing herself to be a female lombax named Angela Cross. She warned them that the experiment was deceptively dangerous, and by giving it to Fizzwidget, they had put the whole galaxy in "imminent danger".

Though Ratchet and Clank first tried to get through to Fizzwidget, [21] it eventually became clear this was not feasible, Angela noticing something was off with him. After Ratchet and Clank defeated it , Angela freed the real Fizzwidget, who expressed his gratitude, and with Clank identifying the problem, amplified the fixed Helix-o-morph to cure the other Protopets.

Sometime between the events of Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal , Ratchet built a gravimetric warp drive out of blargian scrap metal, and did not test the device. At the start of Up Your Arsenal , while in Clank's apartment, Ratchet learned through a Channel 64 News report that Veldin had been hit by a surprise attack from an army of aliens known as the tyhrranoids , led by a villain known as Dr. Wishing to protect his home, Ratchet installed the untested warp drive to the Star Explorer , despite Clank's protests, to reach Veldin immediately.

Once he was defeated, they realized that Qwark was amnesiac, and after being contacted by Sasha Phyronix , captain of the Starship Phoenix , returned him there on the president's orders. Sasha introduced Ratchet to his new quarters on the Starship Phoenix , which impressed him. However, he was dismayed to know that Qwark was the one President Phyronix had placed trust in. Qwark planned out two successful attacks, on Aquatos and Tyhrranosis , which both featured Ratchet front-and-center, while Qwark made excuses for not being involved.

Investigating Nefarious' operations on Daxx , Ratchet learned about a weapon known as the Biobliterator , and that Courtney Gears , a pop star of which he was a fan, was producing propaganda for Nefarious. When he and Clank attempted to learn about Nefarious' whereabouts from Courtney Gears, Gears led them into a trap and swapped Clank with a replica named Klunk , Ratchet totally unaware.

Klunk informed Ratchet that Nefarious was located on his flagship, the Leviathan. Before he could go, Ratchet first had to save Skidd, who was captured by Courtney Gears as she tested the Biobliterator on him, turning him into a robot. Ratchet defeated Courtney Gears , and began to grow slightly suspicious of Klunk.

This was actually a trap, as Nefarious self-destructed the Leviathan. Qwark remained behind on the starship to find the master plan data disk, [32] with Ratchet staying behind to wait for Qwark, though Klunk activated the shuttle and left before the ship exploded. Ratchet defeated Klunk and freed Clank, but despite Clank blaming himself, Ratchet held nothing against him and assured him that Nefarious would pay.

At this point, President Phyronix effectively conceded that Nefarious would win the war within a week. Here, Ratchet found the master plan data disk, and learned that Qwark was still alive, but chose to conceal this information while returning the data disk to Al to decipher.

When he found Qwark he resigned, he berated Qwark and expressed shame for having ever looked up to him, before returning to his ship. Sasha informed Ratchet that the Starship Phoenix , prompting Ratchet to use the gravimetric warp drive to rescue her.

After rescuing Sasha, he found that Al had decoded the data disk and learned that the Biobliterator was recharging on Koros , with Veldin as its next target, enraging him. Before it could, Qwark flew in with his shuttle and interrupted the Biobliterator's fire at the last minute, and Ratchet then used a hovership and destroyed the Biobliterator with Qwark's help.

Back when the series was in its heyday and the peak of its critical and commercial success, in the PS2, I never actually played any of them. But Ratchet and Clank game I did play I legitimately enjoyed. A lot of people, at the time, thought of Ratchet and Clank as if you were playing a Pixar movie.

It was funny, the characters were likable and the gameplay was fun. I don't wanna say that playing the game felt as if you were playing a Pixar movie, but I kinda get what they were saying. And I felt that the game would make a smoother transition to a movie than others. That's mostly because the fact that it'd have to be a CGi movie, but the fact is also that the characters and the story seem suited for that transition.

But, if I'm being perfectly honest, this movie is just no good whatsoever. I've certainly seen worse, particularly video game movies, but there's just nothing about this movie that I liked. There's a few laughs here and there, but they're more chuckles as opposed to laughs.

This comes across like a movie that was just released because they had been talking about it for years and, eventually, just decided to release the first thing they could that could pass for a feature-length film. And this is what we got. A lifeless husk of a film. They use lots of color to disguise the fact that the movie doesn't really have much in the way of substance. The story is simple enough. Ratchet wants to join this group of intergalactic rangers who protect the galaxy from villains who want to destroy it.

Ratchet gets to meet his idol, Captain Qwark, who ends up being a vainglorious fool. The villain wants to create his own planets, which he achieves by taking pieces from other planets he destroys. For what reason does he want to do this, I have no fucking idea. Just because. But, of course, he isn't the real villain and he's being manipulated by somebody else to do his bidding.

You also get to see the origin of Ratchet and Clank's friendship. Very simple story, but that's not really the problem. In fact, with this type of movie, simplicity is sort of one of the most important things. But there's no reason that that should be a limiting factor. There's no reason you still can't find an angle to tell an entertaining story in this context.

But they don't. They're being far more pandering in hoping to appeal to both the fans of the game and people who may have not been familiar with the game. But, sadly, you can't please everybody and this movie, trying to bring everybody together, failed to have its own identity.

It doesn't even feel like the video game it is based on, other than it features a lot of the same characters.

That's the only thing it has in common. There's a few laughs. Like Dr. Nefarious and Qwark arguing about one-liners and how to use them, but that's all I can really remember. This really would have been better served as a straight-to-DVD movie, there's just nothing here of substance and I feel that people, who're fans of the franchise, wouldn't have had such high hopes for the movie.

Oh and Paul Giamatti and John Goodman voice characters here as well. They're both pretty good, but they're only here so they can boast they have some name actors in the film and use them to promote the film. Long story short, this movie isn't very good, not even if you're a hardcore Ratchet and Clank fans.

You're better served playing the games all over again, they're surely better. Jesse O Super Reviewer. Oct 29, Based on the hit video game series, Ratchet and Clank is about a Lombax wanting to do more with his life as he comes across a defect robot who warns others that the galaxy is in danger. Now the video game franchise is one of my favourites of all time, I own every game and have completed them multiple times so I was pretty excited about this film.

I however thought it was enjoyable for what it was. The voice acting was spot on, with some celebrities such as Paul Giamatti and Sylvester Stallone joining in with the original voice actors The animation was pleasant, obviously not going to compete with Pixar but the animation was never bad at any point.

The timeline begins with the first game in the year , with time kept in a calendar similar to Earth's calendar. Aesthetically, many planets in the universe feature metropolises which are similar to s and s science fiction, [3] and feature a collision between nature and architecture, with signature rivets, cables, and tension wires holding things together.

Each galaxy is typically dominated by a megacorporation — Gadgetron Corporation in Solana, Megacorp in Bogon, and Grummel Net Industries in Polaris — whose vendors feature around the world, from which Ratchet purchases all his weaponry.

The universe was once home to the lombaxes , a race of expert engineers, who developed some of the most advanced technology and fastest spaceships in the universe.

However, the lombaxes were mostly defeated by Percival Tachyon , a cragmite who sought revenge for his species after the lombaxes had defeated the cragmites during the Great War. While Ratchet is the last known lombax in the universe, he encounters two other lombaxes during the series: Angela Cross and Alister Azimuth. The space-time continuum in the universe is kept in balance by the Great Clock , a space construct located roughly in the center of the universe operated by the Zoni , an invisible hive mind species who can manipulate time.

It was constructed by Orvus to repair the space-time continuum after it was torn apart by the overuse of time travel by the fongoids. Ratchet lived on Veldin , a backwater planet in the Solana Galaxy, and longed for a life of adventure. He met a robot, Clank, who crash-landed on the planet. Shortly after meeting, the two embarked on a mission to save the galaxy from Chairman Drek , who was destroying planets to construct a new home for the blarg. While trying to save the galaxy, he sought the help of his idol, celebrity superhero Captain Qwark.

In Going Commando , Ratchet and Clank were abducted by Megacorp CEO Abercrombie Fizzwidget , who recruited Ratchet as a commando to retrieve a biological " experiment ", which was stolen by a mysterious thief.

Nefarious , a robotic mad scientist who aimed to exterminate all organic life forms and replace the population with robots. In Deadlocked , Ratchet and Clank were abducted by Gleeman Vox and forced to participate in the illegal combat sport DreadZone , in which they were among many heroes featuring in a dangerous combat sport that has killed many heroes, and had to work to eliminate it.

After the original series, the main plot continued in the Future series. In Tools of Destruction , Kerwan was attacked by Emperor Tachyon, a cragmite who wished to assassinate Ratchet, the last lombax. This forced Ratchet to follow him back to Polaris in which, on his mission to defeat Tachyon, he learned more about his race, the lombaxes, while Clank was encountered by the Zoni , and the two explored the story of their origin.

Finally, in Into the Nexus , Ratchet and Clank worked to stop Vendra Prog from bringing the nethers into the universe, while Ratchet had to decide whether or not to save his race.
