I usually "think good", meaning that I can often recognize that I am in the lead, and take advantage of it by expanding, dropping, teching etc..
Now to my problem: I always catch myself being to cautious when I'm doing the push to finish the game, or any push with tanks for that matter.
I'm to afraid of being caught unseiged probably due to watching to much GSL. I expanded again during the pressure. After a couple of min of attacking, I realize it won't break him, so I pull back. I take all gases and start tank-production off three factory's.
After 10 min in game, with the "same" push, I finally claimed victory. Now you might say: "What a retard, showing a game he won". But my point is, that I was way ahead during almost the entire game, and hadn't it been for some marine miss micro I would have been even more ahead. Still, the game was really close in the end, so close my opponent didn't give me a gg My Question: I feel that this is hurting me.
I am no ThorZain, and I don't think I can be either. How do I stop being so afraid of being caught unseige? More replays can be added if needed. Thank you for your time. OK Well firstly getting tanks at 18 minutes is unconventional to say the least. You really need to be getting tanks much earlier, mass marine can work early on, but any decent zerg will smash you.
You need to transition into tanks much more smoothly, build your factories while your first attack is happening. Why did you send SCV to your third before it was finished?
Not only does it slow down your income, but it is very dangerous for your SCV. It's not as if you were over saturated at your first 2 bases. Quite frankly your tank push doesn't need to be fast, not unless he has some major advantage elsewhere. I mean in this game you had twice as many bases as him, you had won regardless of what happened.
Try not to send in reinforcements in little clumps, its dangerous, the terran army needs to stick together vs zerg.
A few further points, after you kill his third, just run back home. The chances of you finishing the game are slim to none, so just hold on to your marines and wait for tanks. Ummmm i dont think you get the spoon terran style at all. Its not constant aggression from crazy amounts of barrack units and pure bio only works with constant aggression so throw that notion out the door. The Swedish player finally earned his spot in the final four by winning the last game with a heavy use of Thors.
A few days after his victory against MC , ThorZaIN was recruited by mousesports , stating that he believed that the German team would become an even bigger name in the StarCraft II scene, and expressing his desire of being a part of it.
His final adversary was his compatriot NaNiwa , who outmatched him during the first games, eventually leading the series Nevertheless, ThorZaIN managed to win the three last games in a row in order to win the tournament. He made his way through the open winner's bracket and eventually earned his spot in Championship Pool Play, where he defeated IdrA His run in the championship bracket was however shortened by MC , in a rematch of the TSL3 quarterfinals.
ThorZaIN lost , hence ending at the ninth place of the event, the furthest reaching player from the open bracket. United still prevailed after NaNiwa beat Genius in the ace match, which meant that F.
ThorZaIN lost his first match against Squirtle by a score of and fell in to the losers' match. In the losers' match, ThorZaIN defeated GuMiho by a score of and advanced in to the final match for a chance at revenge against Squirtle. He lost to JYP by a score of and failed to advance to the next round.
He played in the upper bracket -- after defeating a relatively unknown Australian player named Shuffle he would defeat MajOr , Chinese Zerg Uhen and finally CatZ His final match in the semi-open would be against Gatored who had fought through the Loser's Bracket.
As a result, their game would be a BO5, with the player in the winners' bracket starting with a lead. ThorZaIN would ultimately lose , and would play against Sen in the third place match, where he lost taking 4th place.
Coming back from , ThorZaIN went on to win the next two matches, advancing to the Finals, where he defeated Jim Throughout the entire tournament, he only lost one Bo3 in the second Group Stage to Naugrim and one map to Monster and Polt , with a map score of overall.
ThorZaIN managed to secure a win as well as winning once again another seed into the quarterfinals of the next tournament. His first opponent was HerO. His debut was cut short as he was knocked out in his very first match up by a score of , and was not able to dethrone HerO. Thorzain has an almost unusually safe and methodical playstyle, owing to his self-confessed fear of counterattacks and base harassment.
He largely prefers macro games and is an excellent decision maker, though this may stem from his safe plays - He will back off from a fight unless he's absolutely sure he can press his advantage. Base races are virtually non-existent in his match history and he only very rarely cheeses. Despite the overall slow pace of his play he does not play very defensively, simply preferring a safe, slow offensive push over a quick strike or drop play.
A weak point of this style is that ThorZaIN allows his opponent to macro it up as well, sometimes leading to somewhat uneven situations. However, his scouting is decent and he has over time used more and more drop plays to bring his opponent off balance. After that Socke and Monster felt the same wrath of the Spoon Terran, nicknamed for his slow play often choosing mech for defensive or containment purposes and outlasting his opponents.
His opponent in the finals was TSL. Upon their 3 previous encounters Polt won two times with and once so statistically Polt was favorite to take this match. But with a mix of some unusual fast expands and solid patient mech play Thorzain proved that he is still one of the best European Terrans. Polt had no reply to his style especially on the last map, Shakuras Plateau where he contained Polt on 2 bases and held a strong siege line outside his base whilst expanding behind it with a third and fourth base.
He wore down his opponent bit by bit with multiple drops. Polt did finally break the hold but lost too many units in the fight causing Thorzain to have a far better economy and production then his opponent forcing him to tap out minutes later.
