I asked an Alabama fan what to make of this apparent dual identity. She had a pretty good answer. The kind you would expect to come from a die-hard Tide fan. She explained that Devin is one of the most true kinds of Alabama fans. Yes, she's from Tennessee. But her decision to come to the Capstone is not just a decision, it's a life choice. It's like a salmon turning and swimming the other direction from all other other fish.
Just look at those parents of hers. Things are going really good with me and the guy right now. It's going to be really different once we can go out in public and see how our relationship turns out when we are in real life! How will you avoid falling into the trap of reality couples who break up?
I think that I and the guy I chose have good heads on our shoulders and know how to handle things well. We don't really want to fall into that publicity-type field.
We just want to be able to spend our time together in a normal way. So we won't be seeing you on TV again? Definitely not! Was this show more about finding someone to date rather than finding a husband? There is no proposal at the end. It was more trying to find love in the South and finding Mr Right.
I don't think a proposal is something you need to rush into at all. We'll see how our relationship grows when we can be normal and things like that, but we're not engaged at the moment. What qualities were you looking for in a boyfriend when you began filming? Definitely one of the most important things for me was feeling I could completely be myself with them, which is hard to do when there are cameras around.
The final guys definitely made me feel the most comfortable. We kind of started with more of a friendship before anything else developed, and I think it's important to develop a comfort and a trust. That's the foundation for any relationship. Also, finding time for all of the other little details needed to prepare was difficult as well. So I did the best that I thought I could — worked out when I could, ordered a dress online and hoped for the best.
It made me feel guilty that I had not pursued my dream with more determination and also much less confident than one should be going into pageant weekend.
Meeting all of the awesome contestants is definitely always a highlight for me at any pageant. Interviews went great I got to meet Herschel Walker!! I ended up placing 3 rd runner up and truly was content — I knew I did not deserve to win.
I walked away from the Miss Tennessee USA pageant with a determination that I would try one competing more time and give it my absolute all, no matter what the obstacles that may stand in my way.
I am putting my preparations out there for the world to see. The main reason, honestly, is to keep me motivated and on track while I navigate through the struggles to following my dream of becoming Miss USA and also pursuing my career.
If you are in the process of preparing for a pageant as well then please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions you have or even to tell me something I am doing is completely crazy. For everyone—I would seriously love to know what you guys think, feel free to write comments below the post or reach out to me on Twitter , Instagram , or Facebook!
